After weathering the floods in Queensland earlier this year, Datacom Systems today officially opened their new Technology Centre and Auditorium at South Brisbane with a gala event and over 70 Datacom clients in attendance.
Special guest, Hon Simon Finn MP (Minister for Government Services, Building Industry and ICT) officially opened the technology centre.

Glenn Scown, Director of Datacom Systems in Queensland, outlined the growth that Datacom has gone through over the last year with 34% growth across both the Brisbane and Townsville offices. Datacom Systems now employ 132 Queenslanders in the ICT industry. Mr Scown further outlined Datacom’s three year strategy with growth expected in
- Managed Services
- Licensing (driven by Datacom’s recent Microsoft Large Account Reseller (LAR) status)
- SharePoint practice and Application Support for legacy applications
- Datacom’s Hybrid Cloud offering
The Facility includes a 40 seat auditorium and over $250k worth of ICT equipment. It will be utilised to showcase the latest technology trends from Virtualisation and Virtual Desktops accessible from iPads/tablets to Unified Communications equipment and WAN optimisation as well as a range of devices and printers etc.
Clients will also be able to test their applications or run Proof of Concept solutions over a range of software and hardware or even into the Datacom cloud offering.
Mr Finn congratulated Datacom on the opening and their ongoing investment in Queensland.
"Datacom's Queensland operations provide vital information and communication technology services to many government departments, schools and Queensland organisations," Mr Finn said.
"Within the Department of Public Works, Datacom provides services to CITEC and Smart Service Queensland. Queensland Health, the Department of Environment and Resource Management, Local Government and Planning also use Datacom's expertise”
He went on to add
"They also provide a full IT management service and cloud service for the Queensland Reconstruction Authority as they continue the all-important rebuilding of our state. Datacom is an innovative, successful and growing IT company that supports local businesses and this new technology centre will be a perfect location for their business to thrive and grow".
Mr Finn said the new technology centre would provide benefits for Datacom's clients as well.
"This demonstration centre, this auditorium, and the array of equipment here for Datacom's customers to see, touch and experience, will prove invaluable for helping customers make informed decisions when it comes to their IT investment."

The Datacom Technology Centre is located at 25 Donkin Street South Brisbane.
